Artist Statement
A fascination with how we construct the reality around us, the power of signs and symbols, social politics, and our relationship with the natural world are all things that have been at the heart of my artistic practice since a very early age.
My current work depicts various environments which have their own specific set of signifiers (and baggage) that I desire to play off of in the work. Even though they represent scenes that most Americans would rather ignore, the intent is not to be heavy-handed with my own political agenda, but instead to make the viewer more sensitive to the social realities that exist around them even if it is only in a small way.
