Horsepower explores the symbolic, aesthetic and cultural connotations that have become attached to the automobile ever since its invention in the late 19th century. Automobiles can reflect ideas such as masculinity, the open road, nostalgia, danger, shelter and individuality. I seek to explore my fascination with the automobile and its various identities in these romanticized depictions of classic cars, beat up vans and recreational vehicles.
